What is the purpose of your life?
What is the goal of your life?
What are you ultimately wanting to accomplish? &
What are we trying to get to?
– family,
– not working anymore
– serenity and
– financial security.
And I believe those answer are pure and honorable but saying them just didn’t seem to satisfy or appease my heart, and my soul.
The Apostle Paul tackled that question, at least in part in 1 Thessalonians Chapter 2:19.
19After all, what gives us hope and joy, and what is our proud reward and crown? It is you! Yes, you will bring us much joy as we stand together before our Lord Jesus when he comes back again. 20For you are our pride and joy.
With these beautiful sentences, Paul gives us an answer to our opening question. Paul tells us his life’s purpose is all about people.
What Paul does here is take us to the end of the war. He takes us to heaven and shows us that we will give an account for- and that is, what we have done with our lives. God will do the final tally of looking at how we invested the life he gave us, and what return we received on the investment, which we are to hand to him.
God has given you and me a life, one life, that we are to invest for him, and the God is looking for, is for us to have carried out our part in the war of bringing people to him. People who have turned their back on God and yet, because of our investment, our life’s work, they are now running to God with arms wide open.
Soldiers- It’s all about people
