Pot Stirrers

As we continue with King Solomon’s list of things God hates, we come to “the man who “stirs up trouble among brothers”.

Now this may not sound like an incredibly serious offense, in fact it can even sound playful, but as we will see today it is serious, deadly serious.

King Solomon puts his finger on The trouble maker, the conflict starter, the discord sower, the instigator. This person starts conflict among Loved ones. This offender sows discord amongst family members, friends even in the church.

Solomon encourages us demonstrates here to bravely addressing sin, call a spade a spade and don’t sugar coating or make excuse for potstirrers..

A pot stirrer:

  • is someone who sows seeds of dissatisfaction in order bring about their own agenda.
  • Skews things to incite trouble where none presently exists.
  • Desires to sway you, or manipulate you, over to their cause.

The bible tells us: Warn a quarrelsome person once or twice, but then be done with him. It’s obvious that such a person is out of line, rebellious against God. By persisting in divisiveness he cuts himself off.  Titus 3:10-11TMSG

Be quick to warn them, hopefully they will turn.

If not, then warn them again, hopefully then they will turn when they see you are serious.

Pot-stirrers need to see you mean business with the warnings, BUT REMEMBER YOUR OBJECTIVE, YOU ARE to protect your flock.

Is protecting the flock easy? NO, it’s gonna be tough, and it’s gonna take real commitment and stick-to-itiveness.

In the end its pretty easy to see why God hates pot-stirring.
