Going After the One

Jesus stated emphatically in Luke 15:7 that there is more joy in heaven over one person being rescued than 99 who haven’t strayed.

That is a powerful piece of information and it dictates quite a mandate to us.

Sure, we as are to teach Christian growth, theology and life skills but at the forefront of our ministry we must go after “the lost”.

But going after the lost always requires adaptive strategy. People today are not reached by the same channels they use to be. People gather information differently than they did just 20 years ago; placing an ad in a newspaper is not going to reach our society and grab people’s attention, it just isn’t going to happen. We will have to use new communications avenues, Facebook, Website, TikTok and Instagram.

Secondly, If we are going to go after the one, it’s gonna be a lot of work requiring many hands, and that is why God gave us Eph 4:11-12.

the pastors and teachers responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

Everyone has a part to play and is required.

Lastly, reaching “The One” will mean “old dogs” will need to be willing to learn new tricks and put the needs of “the lost” above our own personal preferences and desires.

It’s quite a mandate, but one we are committed to.
