Schemers

Solomon was arguably the greatest king of Israel and he reigned when Israel was the greatest nation in the world. The time was Circa 1000BC and Israel was building its Palestinian world. What made Solomon so very special was that he was the wisest person who has ever lived.

Gang, Solomon’s God given wisdom gave him abilities that were legendary throughout the world and times he lived in. All this power and all this influence added up to one thing, schemers. Solomon was bombarded by people with agendas that centered around gaining a higher position for one’s self, making more money, or procuring something they desperately wanted and didn’t have.

Solomon, in this passage, speaking through the spirit of God proclaims to us that this kind of scheming is despicable to God. God has recorded for us here is to help make sure you and I don’t start taking the path or scheming ourselves.

So, let’s use Solomon’s experience to help us set our courses correctly.

Step 1- Give to give, not to get. Relationships and interactions should not have ulterior motives. Scheming friendships are relationships we make because they are somehow advantageous to us. There is little love in false friendships, little respect, little concern for the person themselves.

Step 2 Develop and embrace a magnanimous heart. Luke 6:35 tells us-

Help and give without expecting a return. You’ll never—I promise—never regret it.     Lastly, know where the line of deception is. Know when you are operating of of Gods initiative and power and when you are operating out of “self”.
